PRESS RELEASE

19th August 2019

Interoperability boost as Allocate launches innovative workforce partner ecosystem ‘Allocate Connect’

With interoperability critical to safeguarding the safety and efficiency of the global healthcare sector, Allocate Software has announced the creation of an innovative workforce partner ecosystem called Allocate Connect. Designed to boost interoperability between workforce IT systems, Connect is the first of its kind to bring together digital innovators to tackle these issues. As a leader in workforce management solutions, Allocate is looking to drive responsible collaboration and integration to ensure its software platforms enable a digital ecosystem leading the way in delivering the best workforce technology to healthcare organisations globally. UK staffing innovator, Patchwork is the most recent partner to sign up.

Nick Wilson, CEO at Allocate Software, comments: “Today, there is currently no consistent technology standard for interoperability or open APIs between workforce systems in the healthcare sector – yet it really is critical as we see the use of technology evolve. Unless we see a significant improvement in the sharing of IT systems and data, the workforce systems that healthcare organisations rely on will continue to be a barrier to innovation – and problematic for ensuring the delivery of quality care, governance and efficiencies.

“Connect is an excellent example of the role that Allocate wants to play and how it intends to operate. It’s all about creating an ecosystem of forward-thinking technology partners that celebrate a collaborative approach like we do and create a positive force for change in the way technology solutions are embraced. I am determined that Allocate leads the way on the interoperability of workforce systems.”

Anas Nader, CEO at Patchwork, comments: “Patchwork shares Allocate’s ambition to drive forward the agenda for interoperability across healthcare, and we agree that this is important to help Trusts achieve efficiencies and improve patient care. We are therefore delighted to be part of its new partner ecosystem and look forward to the benefits it will offer the sector.”

University Hospitals Leicester has already experienced the benefit of Allocate’s open approach to partnerships through the interface it enabled between Nervecentre and Allocate’s SafeCare software.

“The innovation has reduced duplication and saved nursing time on acuity recording. We are now assured that this acuity data is recorded in a timely fashion and ensures our safe staffing judgements are based on accurate and timely data. We’ve developed a very strong partnership between the two organisations and we have robust processes in place to ensure this works effectively from a support perspective. I look forward to more partnerships via the Connect programme,” comments Sam Mitchelson, Nursing Workforce Utilisation Lead at University Hospitals Leicester.

Connect builds upon Allocate’s strong track record of developing and supporting both integration and partners. Examples include existing technology integrations include NHS Professionals, the Electronic Staff Record (ESR), SAP and Nervecentre. These partnerships have been progressed based on quality and supportability. All interfaces with Allocate’s software, for example, are tested first by the criteria for quality, so maintaining the integrity of the data and ensuring the effectiveness of the software to assure that all staff deployment is fair, safe and efficient.

Nick continues: “Our core focus is on ensuring our customers have access to the best functionally robust, healthcare-centred and reliable solutions that are both innovative and fit for purpose.

Allocate announced a new partnership between Allocate’s BankStaff and +Us’ agency release and worker engagement solution[1] earlier this year, which provided its customers with a choice of how to manage agency sourced temporary worker engagement. This partnership was innovative in providing visibility of agency sourced workers, engaged by the NHS in real-time live rosters, alongside the substantive workforce.
