New RLDatix and Access Rio EPR integration frees community nurses from admin, creating more efficient schedules and consistent care for patients

An integration between RLDatix’s electronic community workforce planning tool, Allocate eCommunity and Access Rio’s electronic patient safety record will enable more efficient planning of demand and capacity, focused on matching skillset to patient need, whilst saving clinical time spent on admin, supporting more consistent care to patients.

With care delivery in community settings rising and the NHS Long Term Plan setting out a roadmap for more care to be delivered in the community, RLDatix has bought together its Allocate eCommunity scheduling tool with Access Rio’s Electronic Patient Record (EPR) system. The integration means community healthcare providers no longer need to duplicate information across two systems, saving clinical time, ensuring data accuracy and increasing patient safety.

The integration brings the best of RLDatix’s community workforce scheduling software – which allows healthcare organisations to roster staff in the community and plan their workforce based on patient need – alongside Access Rio EPR – which enables patient records to be created and shared digitally. Combining the two allows patient records to be transferred quickly and accurately between the two systems, eliminating the need for manual data entry, freeing up valuable time for healthcare teams to focus on providing quality care to patients. Data accuracy is also ensured, giving healthcare providers the confidence to make informed decisions based on reliable information.

Midlands Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (MPFT) has been successfully using Allocate eCommunity to schedule their community workforce since 2015. The integration has immediately introduced team efficiencies, with Trish Nolan, Head of Digital Skills and Business Change at MPFT stating:

“The integration between Allocate eCommunity and Access Rio EPR is a real gamechanger, which makes our care safer and more efficient. With an average of 227 referrals a day, across 39 teams, the time spent duplicating information across the system was taking up to 10 minutes per referral. Now, with the integration in place, it’s saving a total of 38 hours per day – that’s an hour, per team, per day. The connection between the systems is eliminating human error and ensuring no patient information is missed. In addition, the system allows us to safely plan our staffing needs around the demands and complexities of our patients. It has revolutionised how we provide care, saved time and made our care safer.”

Arti Fiaz – Director, Sales UK&I at RLDatix said: “The integration between Allocate eCommunity and Access Rio EPR will transform how community healthcare providers plan and provide care for vulnerable patients. Bringing together Allocate eCommunity and Access Rio EPR gives providers a truly complete and holistic view of patient needs, alongside staffing levels and skillset. The system creates safer patient contacts by reducing human error, as well as saving clinical time. Our partnership with Access Rio EPR provides healthcare organisations assurance that they are working as efficiently as possible, whilst providing patients the safest care.”

Steve Wightman, Commercial Director for Access HSC commented: “Access Rio EPR has always provided healthcare professionals with a holistic picture of patient needs and complexities. The integration with Allocate eCommunity helps reduce the burden on healthcare professionals and enables providers with the ability to align staff skillsets with patient needs. It’s a great example of how technology can make a difference when it comes to achieving great outcomes for the team.”
